The Hill Country Singers began with 23 charter members gathered around the piano at “The Island” in early 1994. In 1995 they incorporated as "The Hill Country Singers", a non-profit 501(c)3 in Lago Vista, TX, and began offering membership to all North Shore residents with an interest in music and the time to commit to rehearsals. The choir is now 75 voices strong!
As the choir expanded, performances moved from The Island to the Lago Vista Middle School for several years, then to the lovely K-Oaks center for a while, and in 2014 were awarded the honor of inaugurating the brand new, state-of-the-art Performing Arts Center at the equally new Lago Vista High School.
The Hill Country Singers Director, William Parcher, spent a career as a professional opera singer, cast in some 200 productions all over the U.S., Europe and Japan. The Metropolitan Opera in New York, LaScala in Milan, and performances at The Kennedy Center were just a few. He is active in North Shore Theatre, and holds a Masters Degree in Music from Indiana University, one of the finest music programs in the U.S., and a Bachelor’s degree from American University in Washington D.C.
